Welcome to
DRUID RACING
Having been involved in racing syndicates for several years and after enjoying the many highs (and several lows) involved with having an interest in thoroughbred racehorses I decided, in December 2007, to purchase our own filly, It Must Be Love. Due to several set backs she did not make the racetrack in 2008 and is now being allowed to strengthen up over the winter. She will be back in training in early March 2009 with a planned debut in May/June. I am offering a total of 40% stakes in her.
Despite last years disappointment we have now increased the number horses on offer to three for 2009.
I have a quarter share in a 5 year old gelding called Goldan Jess and I am offering a total of 20 x 1% stakes in him. He ran nineteen times in 2008 and is the perfect, dual purpose, syndicate horse.
I have also taken up a twelve month lease on Nightboat To Cairo, an unraced 5 year old Turtle Island mare. I am offering stakes as low as 1/1000th to give you a taste of ownership at a very low outlay. Her racing name was decided in early January 2009 by a ballot of all her owners.
We are now looking for like minded individuals to join us in trying to achieve the maximum amount of pleasure from this exciting hobby.

Druid Sports and Leisure was formed by John Edwards in 2003 and became a limited company in July 2005. In addition to supplying sportswear we became involved in horse racing merchandise and also organising racing excursions to meetings in the UK and Ireland.
We have been involved in several racing syndicates over the last five or six years and have decided it is time to purchase our own horses and let others join in with the enjoyment of owning thoroughbred racehorses.
Druid Racing is not a racing club, we are offering percentage stakes in our horses with a pro rata return on any prize money and resale value, where applicable. We will endeavour to provide a comprehensive service to our fellow stake holders and make the experience of ownership as pleasant and enjoyable as possible.
Racehorse ownership can be a very enjoyable and exciting experience, there will probably be several lows to deal with along the way but hopefully the highs will compensate for these ten fold.
We have two trainers, David Flood will be in charge of It Must Be Love. David is now located at Tern Hill in Shropshire at a superb racing stable facility within a forty five minute drive of our base. This will allow us to monitor your horse closely whilst she enjoys the excellent training facilities on offer. The purpose made gallops, horse walker, extensive turnout paddocks and tranquil surroundings will be a real bonus in bringing the best out of your horse.
Our National Hunt horses are under the care of Philip Kirby at Dibble Bridge Stables, Castleton, North Yorkshire. The stables offer miles of hacking opportunities on the surrounding moors, with schooling fences and gallops on offer both on site and at the Malton training facility. Redcar beach also offers facilities when all else is frozen or snowed in!
We will endeavour to meet at the stables a at least once a month, alternating between Shropshire and Yorkshire, to give you a hands on experience on how your horse is progressing or dealing with any setbacks.
Whilst we can't guarantee your horse will run at the big meetings or that they will win every race, we will guarantee that every effort will be made to maximise the potential of your horse whilst putting their welfare to the fore.
- To place our horses in the best possible environment to enable them to meet their true potential on the racetrack
- To allow our members to opportunity to enjoy the thrill of owning a stake in a thoroughbred racehorse for a fraction of the cost of sole ownership
Druid Racing will provide percentage stakes in the horse.
The maximum stake sold in each horse will be 90%. Druid Racing will retain 10% of the horse to cover associated costs of purchasing the horse and setting up and managing the agreement.
The agreement term will run for twelve months.
